Head off grid to our Rivendell Cabin

What awaits you…

  • One cosy bedroom, perfect for two — though with 3 beds, there's room to spread out for up to 4 guests

  • 1 bathroom for your morning ritual, unhurried and all yours

  • An indoor fireplace to curl up beside as the Tasmanian evenings turn crisp

  • A balcony to sip your morning coffee while the bush slowly wakes around you

  • Blackout blinds for the deepest, most indulgent sleep you've had in years

Tucked away from the hum of the world, this enchanting cabin sits nestled off the grid, cradled by nature and kissed by the wild Tasmanian landscape. Just a 20-minute wander by car from the charming town of Deloraine, and an easy hour's journey from Launceston Airport or the Spirit of Tasmania ferry in Devonport - close enough to reach, far enough to truly disappear.

The cabin rests on a sprawling 50-acre farm where rolling pastures meet whispering forest, all in the gentle shadow of the magnificent Quamby Bluff. Here, the only traffic is the occasional wombat, and the only deadlines are set by the rising and setting sun.

If your soul is craving stillness, a place to exhale, unwind, and remember what quiet actually sounds like, you've found it. Whether you choose to simply sink into the peace of your surroundings or lace up your boots and venture out along the winding nearby walking tracks, this little hideaway is ready to welcome you home.

Food.

Rivendell provides you with all of the basics including milk, tea, coffee, condiments and cooking oils. However milk, coffee, salts and sauces may not last you long if that is all you have to devour. Our off-grid cabin and luxury safari tents are approximately a 23 minute drive from the closest supermarket, Woolworths Deloraine: Located at 78 Emu Bay Rd, Deloraine via Jackeys Marsh Road and Meander Road.

Despite the relatively close drive we are pretty convinced that once you arrive, you may not want to leave so we suggest doing your supermarket stop on the way here.

  • If you are travelling via Launceston Alps & Amici have ready made gourmet meals that you can heat. Or, if you are excited by having a cook up you have all the means to do so in your cabin, with a small fridge and hotplate available. We also have a fully functioning kitchen in our larger communal kitchen, complete with top end appliances and all the utensils you need if you’re keen on a feast! Open the doors and cook along to the sounds of the birds nearby. Bliss.

  • If you are travelling from Hobart, Hill Street Grocer has various locations down south for you to stock up on delectable local and Tasmanian gourmet treats.

For more food ideas to tempt check out our explore page HERE, there you’ll find options to suit even the most picky of eaters.

Other items to consider.

  • A hat and sunscreen! We know that stories of Tasmanian winters may have you ignoring the need to slip, slop, slap at certain times of the year but trust us you’ll need the UV protection if venturing outside no matter the season. Nothing worse than enjoying a holiday with a side of sunburn.

  • Wine - We suggest visiting at least one of the numerous excellent cellar doors along the Tamar Valley, to stock up on cool-climate wines, including our famous sparklings, pinots and chardonnays. We recommend Meander Valley Vineyard, or if you want to travel a bit further Ghost Rock Wines.

  • Walking shoes - If you are the adventurous type you are best to explore the area in flat closed-in, comfortable shoes. Especially if you want to take on a nearby hike or two!

  • There is a BBQ available on the deck of the cabin. So feel free to cook up a storm if you’re keen on a traditional Australian sausage sizzle!

  • A warm jumper or coat - Conditions can change rapidly, so bring a windbreak layer.

  • A camera - From local wallabies to a sky full of starts, there will be endless photo opportunities to capture here.

Two people stand on a wooden balcony of a house under construction, holding glasses of red wine. The man wears sunglasses and a beige jacket, while the woman has dark hair and a light-colored jacket. The house has unfinished wooden walls and a partially installed gutter. There's a barbecue grill on the balcony, and trees with fall foliage in the background.

The ultimate retreat

Days at Rivendell are made for slow mornings, long walks at the base of Quamby Bluff, and relaxing on strategically placed decks. Siestas are optional but highly recommended - look out to mountains from bed! With space for four guests in all three of our accommodation options, Rivendell is ideal for romantic escapes and for gatherings of friends and families with older or adult children.

If you want to switch off, this is the place for you. It also makes for a great launch pad if adventure in Northern Tasmania is calling to you!
